Well, it couldn't have been a randomised controlled trial if the women could have chosen either a c/s or a vb. it must have been approved by the ethics committee, so the women must have agreed to be in the trial and so must have known they would be randomally assigned? I hope, one can only hope. I have read critiques of the trial and I think the main problem was the variability of experience of the birth attendants also I think they had to be obstetricians not midwives.
