Agree with you the big discrepancy of Day 3 weighing. In our unit, we are still weighing babies on Day 3. However, we also take into consideration other factors eg. wet naps, feeding pattern, color etc. Not all babies are weighed on discharge. Those babies that are discharged on Day 2 will be followed up by the Midwife co-ordinating the Extended Midwifery Services (EMS) who is responsible for postnatal home visit.
