I have been living with this with my now 18 month old since he was about 9 months old. We are currently working hard to get him going by himself. He currently only goes when I give him herbalax to go every 3 days (if he hasnt gone on day 3 by himself that is) We are doing the following things, and started them progresively as one thing didnt seem to be working on its own. Slippery elm powder plus half a capsule of acidophilus mixed in with some breastmilk (you can use soy or rice milk) once a day. You can do the slippery elm and breastmilk as often as you like. Water, water, water. I have a cup with a straw that is filled with water left where he can come get it himself to help promote good water intake. He is now also in herbs to help stimulate his digestive system - we went to see a herbalist. He is also starting to see a chiropractor.
