I agree Mary. Coming from homebirths that is my
natural inclination: the baby weigh and check last before the midwife goes home!
It can definetly be different in the hospital but unless baby has been whisked
off someplace else (SCBU)that initial interaction of mum and babe takes
precedence and the weigh etc is done just before transfer to the ward. it is all
a teaching time isn't it and I just explain it to the parents etc.. and they
seem ok with it baby will be weighed in due course.
