Hi guys,

I reactivated ViewFormPagesLockDown (as I couldn't see any way to verify if
this was already activated).

Seems to have done the trick. Groups with Restricted Read can no longer view
form page view within Lists and Libraries for the site collection. Also, the
_layouts and -catalog virtual directories seem to be similarly secured. Boo-yea!

However they are still able to enumerate the Master Page Gallery which seems
odd given that inheritance was broken and the group(s) in question were not
even present. Inheriting permissions from the parent resolved this but I'm
unsure why.

Do all groups need to be explicitly defined if inheritance is broken? I had
assumed deleting them would be sufficient.

Anyways, thanks very much to those who offered their time and advice.

Regards,

Paul

Subject: RE: YANQ - restrict list/library browsing

Hi Ivan,

Under List Permission group View Items cannot be disabled without Open Items
becoming unchecked. Similarly, under Site Permissions, Open cannot be unchecked
without disabling View Pages.

The root site for the collection is a publishing portal which is where I'm
having the problem. I also have nested team sites for which I've enabled
publishing but it was my understanding that lock down (a) was only applicable
where anonymous access was enabled and (b) for non-publishing sites.

I'm happy to enable lockdown if you think that'd do the trick. Anything I
should know before I try?

Did you enable the publishing feature on a non-publishing site template? If so,
you need to also enable the lock down feature

Yet Another Newbie Question I hope is easily solved.

As per documentation I've limited access for a site to Limited Read for various
groups but they are still able to browse the Page library and various lists.

Is it just me or is there another way to achieve this?

Anonymous Access is not enabled.

Thanks,

Paul
