Hi there Ivan
This is just a general observation (and in no way a criticism of the idea and I'm glad you raised it in this forum). I just came back from the Best Practices Conference in San Diego so I have been drinking governance kool-aid from all the big kids like Joel and Robert Bogue (which will influence my answer of course). I would heed the tingling spider-senses of the responses you have received so far. The pages library has its specific purpose and you are using it outside that purpose and that *may* well come back to haunt later. If you do not want to do custom development (which I can completely sympathise with), then perhaps look at a solution like the lightning conductor web part or the enhanced content query web part from codeplex? http://www.lightningtools.com/pages/lightning-conductor-web-part.aspx As someone previously said, the publishing feature provides you with a place for documents that is inherently more extensible and flexible than the pages library, that has been modified for a specific purpose. The largest section has a little over 600 entries today. I'm not expecting to have any performance problems. Paul T. - in reply to your post, the client wants their staff to have a similar experience in SharePoint to what they have today for finding content. They currently treat a HTML content page the same as document. It will be strange for them to have to browse two different libraries just because one item is a web page and another item is a PDF document. Have you considered the volume and size of documents and potential performance hit? I think this might play a significant role!
