Ken,
Unfortunately, the built-in search web parts do not support running a "saved
query" which would have allowed you to do what you want (which is basically
running the same search every time a user browses to the page).

You will have to develop a custom webpart that uses the search interface to do
so. I did this in my current project, but I cannot share the code (customer IP).

If you are interested and if you have the web part skills, ping me and I will
point you in the right direction.

Thanks,

Subject: RE: Staff Directory - filterable

Hi Paul,

Thanks for that...unfortunately that User information list on displays Uses
given access permissions in SharePoint.

Currently I have our SharePoint setup so that it syncs all user profile
information with Active Directory, then rather than create an access permission
account I have added our "All Staff" AD security group as Home Members in
SharePoint. Then it has all their info when searching for staff, gives them
access when they login (using their own profile) but with access permissions
controlled Org wide.

Not sure if that is the correct way to do it...but that's how I have it setup.
So unfortunately that user list won't work unless I specifically add all users
as SharePoint users I guess?

Cheers,

Recently I came across the magical hidden user's list
(_catalogs/users/simple.aspx) quite by accident. At first glance it looked like
just the ticket for mass deleting unwanted groups from imported sites. But,
alas, the checkbox column has no associated actions!

Anyways, I did a little research on this and it appears that it's quite a good
base for a company directory page. Here's a reference:

Subject: Staff Directory - filterable

Hey All,

Is there an easy way (link to an article you may have used if possible please
:) ) to create a staff directory in SharePoint.

I realise you can search, but some people aren't smart enough to even do that
:P. I want to have a page / site which will list all staff in the directory and
also be able to maybe filter by site / department (this is all synced with
Active Directory).

Cheers,
