Kwizcom calendar plus is good too ________________________________ From: [email protected] [[email protected]] On Behalf Of Paul Noone [[email protected]] Sent: Monday, August 10, 2009 8:15 AM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: Car Booking Systems
You could use multiple calendars as you suggest and then either write a custom web part or purchase the List Rollup and Calendar Plus web parts from bamboo Solutions (not an endorsement!). This will allow you to rollup calendars across an entire farm and even colour code the events I believe. I’ve been using the List Rollup web part for a while now and it’s brilliant. Worth every cent. The way I was thinking is pretty rudimentary, but it will be better at least. I was going to create a separate calendar for every car, so it’s a booking calendar for that specific car. This system would be great…but for someone that just wants to find which cars are free it would be a hassle clicking through all the calendars to see what was free. Thus, I thought I might be able to make some kind of query tool to solve that problem that you put in the date / time you want a car and it will return all cars/calendars that don’t have bookings in that period. How are you going to make sure bookings are unique? The Microsoft one does this somehow, but its not the best thing in the world. I’m currently looking at using a calendar per item, then making some kind of query so people can see all cars that are not booked out or something like that. Curious to know if there is a better way to do it though?
