That's not a bug, that's a feature J

STSADM doesn't call the SPWeb.CreateDefaultAssociatedGroups to create
groups

Subject: SharePoint Groups problem

Hi all,

I've recently identified a strange problem with the default site groups not
being created when creating a new site through stsadm. Creating the site via
Central Admin woks as expected.

Similarly if I activate a feature (which calls code to create groups) using
stsadm, the groups are not created and I get a nasty site error. But
activating it through the UI successfully creates the groups.

I'm running stsadm under my login and I'm also the site collection admin for
the target sites.

It smells like a permission problem but as no errors get thrown I don't know
where to start looking.
