I'm not sure. There is not much documentation out there. I think people are
still trying to do this, too and finding the best practice for it.

Hi Tommy, is this in lieu of an in-place upgrade?

What is the MS recommended approach to upgrading from MOSS 2007 to 2010?

FYI

I have just tried content DB backup/restore from MOSS 2007 and it all worked!
Note: All custom solutions and features have to be deployed and activated on
the new SP 2010 farm though.

Below is the screenshot of the custom WSS 3.0 site that was created using
CompleteSharepoint.NET (custom site template):

I still reckon that this will be the right way to upgrade.

Tommy

Hi everyone,

Has any of you attempted this? I attempted this twice using in-place upgrade
and it failed. It has something to do with the old MOSS 2007 content database
cannot be upgraded. Please see my report on http://sp2010journal.blogspot.com
if you're interested.

I'm now going to try attaching MOSS 2007 content database to a clean install of
SP 2010.

Cheers,
Tommy
