I just tried it and it appears as though multi-line text fields are a data type not supported in formulas - sorry.

Of course this depends on any dependancies on the old "multiple lines of text" field, such as customisations that use the old field, this sort of thing can get messy. So much pain to go through just to allow sorting on that field. Sezai.
