I can "ping sitecollection" without an issue, but when I try to access http://sitecollection <http://sitecollection/> , I am prompted for a username and password (even though its windows authentication) and regardless of the login details I provide (mine, or the farm admin account) I can't get the page to load. Any suggestions on what could be wrong here? It seems so simple - but I am out of ideas.
