Actually, the thing that seems to be the most important part of their "invention", encrypting the actual data with a hash of plaintext to make sure that the cyphertext is the same for identical documents, was proposed for Freenet in this message http://marc.info/?l=freenet-dev&m=97941517231036&w=2 posted April 23, 2000 (twelve days before their filing date).
