I see that the contemporary P2P networks employ distinct URI
schemes (such as freenet:, but also magnet:) and top-level
domains (such as .gnunet) for their operation. Which makes me
wonder, if there're plans, or possibility, that such schemes and
domains will be registered (reserved?) with IANA?
Alternatively, is it possible to switch to and register a single
TLD (such as .p2p, or perhaps .dec, for “decentralized”, or some
other), the subdomains for the current P2P networks could be put
under (such as: .bit.p2p, .gnunet.p2p, .onion.p2p, etc.)?
Also, as I've mentioned earlier, the particular URI syntax
employed by GNUnet seems a bit odd. Namely, as per [1], I'd
expect the SCHEME://AUTHORITY/... form to never be used for
decentralized identifiers (such as those used by GNUnet), and
the form such as SCHEME:NAMESPACE:IDENTIFIER to be used instead.
Like:
gnunet:ecrs:chk:9E4MDN4VULE8KJG6U1C8FKH5HA8C5CHSJTILRTTPGK8MJ6VHORERHE68JU8Q0FDTOH1DGLUJ3NLE99N0ML0N9PIBAGKG7MNPBTT6UKG.1I823C58O3LKS24LLI9KB384LH82LGF9GUQRJHACCUINSCQH36SI4NF88CMAET3T3BHI93D4S0M5CC6MVDL1K8GFKVBN69Q6T307U6O.17992
Or perhaps a form with leading urn:gnunet: instead, in line with
at least some (but probably the majority) of the URN namespaces
currently registered. The same applies to freenet:
vs. urn:freenet:, BTW.
