Hello,

I'm developing a CGI script to allow other campus departments to
modify device registration status. By using /bin/pfcmd, I'm able to
use PacketFence to make the modifications and not expose the
underlying database, but the command fails if the end user uses
special characters (#) in the Notes field. I checked
/lib/pfcmd/pfcmd.pm for the grammar, it appears that only certain
special characters are allowed in value fields: {*, ., -, :, ;, @}.

Would PacketFence internals be affected by selectively including
additional characters to the regular expression? or is the current
list of allowed characters simply a sensible default?
