Hi,
I am currently in my first semester of Masters in Computer Science.
I am interested in participating in GSOC 2012.
I know its been late to contact been very hectic schedule at the
university, but I think no time is
too late.
So, I visited your ideas page and came through the project named "Initial
Configuration Web-
based instead of through command-line". The reason for my interest is that
I have experience in
HTML/CSS?Java and recently few months before I have developed a
dummy project which was
based on web server. So, I am confident in working on this project.
Also I did some background work from where I went through your installer.pland
configuration.pl
and understood that these two files are the prime objects to be transformed
into web-based rather
being done through command-line.
So, I was thinking since apache have to be used to get the web-based
configuration, we can use
the mod_perl which is an optional module in apache itself. It will embed
the perl interpreter in it so
it will become easy to output the perl scripts and with proper modification
of these two files and
using HTML, we can transform the configuration wizard to be done using web
rather than command-line.
Well this is a very rough sketch and I need guidance for proper direction
that I am going the right
way. Therefore, a kind feedback and help on this project to develop me a
good proposal is highly
appreciated.
Thanks and regards.
