Both your organizations could join forces and sponsor the development of
the feature. Once developed and integrated we will maintain it forever.

Another approach would be that you do it yourselves, in which case we
encourage you to fork our repository on github[1], experiment and once
you are ready for feedback open a pull request against our repository.
Of course, asking for early feedback here will also be welcomed! The
more you communicate your intent / design the more chances you have that
we will integrate your changes.
