Would it be possible to add a feature to PF that would monitor the PF services
that are supposed to be running and notify an admin if the services fail to
start or are down for more than a specified period of time?
For instance:
We are in VLan mode and my pfdhcplistener died yesterday evening after I had
already left work. It died because I (like an idiot) bounced the mysql service
without first stopping PF ... PF does not like that too much : )
The pfdhcplistener service was down for about 8 hours and my first information
about it was my users calling in.
We have the ability to send emails and SMS to people who register so the
plumbing is there, could that be extended to notify admins of errors too?
