I have attached the two config files. I am using PFZen, hence I have
not setup any specific expiry information in the config files. I was
just trying to set the expiry date in the admin console for the MAC
address but the device remained registered even after that date.
Please let me know what changes I need to make.
For the expiration, you will need to use expire_mode=window. By
default, we allow 52 weeks before unregistering the device, but you can
always override that during the registration process or manually in the
GUI. Make sure to restart PacketFence after this change.
For the violations, make sure you set the grace field to something lower
than 120 minutes. You can redefine it per violation. The grace field
is the number of minutes before a violation can reoccur.
One of the requirements for our Network registration system is that
the user needs access to their account. The user is responsible the
network usage for the MAC registered under their account. So they need
to have access to all MAC's registered under their account. When they
discard an old laptop or sell it to a fellow student, it needs to be
unregistered from the first user and registered under the second user.
We were hoping the users could do this on their own, without the need
of calling Network technicians or Administrators. Is this possible?
Not directly with PF. However, I remember that we already implemented a
kind of online PHP form for students to register or unregister devices.
End Users don't have any kind of credentials or profiles on PacketFence.
