Hi Ian,

I'm not sure I understand question 1-could you give a bit more detail on your
setup?

As far as 2 goes, the switch just needs to be able to communicate with the PF
server for SNMP/RADIUS. You don't need to set up VLAN interfaces for each VLAN.

So for example if your managed switch is at 192.168.1.1 your PF box will need
an interface on that network. So you should be able to ping the switch IP from
the PF box and vice versa.

HTH,

Mark

Hello,
I know that this is a simple (and probably dumb) question, but I
am still having problems getting interaction between a computer hooked into my
Cisco switch (3550) and the ZEN PF Virtual Machine. I defined all the Vlans on
the switch (1,2,3,4,5,10) and allowed the trunk link access to all of them. My
two questions are:

1) When working with virtual interfaces/trunks...on my host linux box (physical
Ethernet port) do I need to assign IP address (in the
10.0.10.0/24<http://10.0.10.0/24> network) or do I leave it as DHCP // (same
with virtual interfaces/cards created in VM Workstation)?

2) On my Cisco switch, do I need to add an IP address to each Vlan interface in
order for traffic to pass from the Cisco switch to the PF Zen VM?

If anyone could help, I would really appreciate. Thank you.
