802.1X support on this sub-$200 "web-managed smart switch" appears to be EAP or "guest VLAN." If EAP fails, port goes to a guest VLAN configured on the switch, not in PF. No place for MAC registration.
I'm surprised that port security is so hard to code for, but if I can't get the device to send port security violation traps at all, it doesn't matter. What about link up/down traps? That should be all standard MIBs. I didn't see a cheap D-Link that has both Power over Ethernet and an SFP port (which we need for media conversion to fibre). I'll look again. I'm also demoing an HP V-series (ex-3Com) unit that might have better PF support, but it's much larger, nearly the size of a standard 48-port switch despite having only 8 1GT+1 SFP ports. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Live Security Virtual Conference Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond.
