Hi Francois, ok, changing the mac the way you said made eth0 load. But http://172.16.60.1:3000/ brings me now to a page pfappserver on Catalyst 5.90011
and http://172.16.60.1:1443/ does not load. I must have messed up something. Maybe I should just test on PacketFenceZEN_ESX-3.4.1 Regards, Rudy >>> Francois Gaudreault <[email protected]> 9/14/2012 5:26 PM >>> Hi, > Thank you for your response. > > on ESXi 4.1 > while booting ... > eth0 load failed: device does not seem to be present > > then after login > ifconfig -a shows > eth3 with no IP > lo > > Tried PacketFenceZEN_ESX-3.5.1 also on ESXi 5 with the same result. ( > PacketFenceZEN_ESX-3.4.1 is ok) You did import the VM using the ovf right? It's quite weird it did import as eth3. To fix you can either: - Specify the proper HWADDR in the ifcfg-eth0 file (in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts) (preferred) - Move the ifcfg-eth0 to ifcfg-eth3, and edit the content appropriately - Slap udev (check in /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules). You will see your mac associated with eth3 there. Hope it helps! > > Regards, > Rudy > >>>> Francois Gaudreault <[email protected]> 9/13/2012 10:29 PM >>> > Hi Rudy, > >> Now tried PacketFenceZEN_ESX-3.5.1 on same ESXi 4.1 but on starting the >> system >> eth0 failed to load ... >> >> Changed the Adapter Type from VMXNET 3 to E1000 without success. >> >> What am I doing wrong? > VMXNET should work by default since it's a CentOS 6 VM (driver is > compiled by default in the kernel).
