To be more precise, there were issues with some firmware where neither SSH nor
SNMP deauth were working, especially when the controller was managing thousands
of devices.
This may, or may not be your problem.
I am in the middle of implementing support for the SOAP API which ought to fix
those problems.
Try to see if manual ssh deauth works first. If it doesn't, you know that
method is worthless for you and you should try SNMP.
Then check to see if you get errors in the logs about an unknown RADIUS client.
Let me know what you find.
