Actually I run 4.0.5 on CentOS v6.4. There are number of issues indeed and I try to file them in BTS. I found most of issues are immediately fixed (most by Francis, thanks BTW) so I hope 4.0.6 release will be much better than 4.0.5.
In case of problems I'd advice thoroughly inspect numerous logs PacketFence produces. Some of the messages (or lack of them) really indicate problems. As far as LDAP is concerned, I found the best way to deal with it is to run PacketFence radiusd in debug mode (-X). You'll find LDAP is not enabled in freeradius configuration and fix requires uncommenting some "ldap" lines in freeradius config files and modules. I'm not able to enumerate all changes I had to do in order to obtain working LDAP authentication. But I got it. Which entitles me to make the general comment: LDAP authentication is not enabled in PacketFence by default. Moreover, carefully modified files are brutally overwritten during update. So I have to restore fixes I made before after every update. This is at least frustrating not to say more. Generally speaking, PacketFence now is not out-of-the-box NAC solution. Instead, it needs very careful configuration and bug fixing every time. Nevertheless, this is great piece of software and I'm going to continue its implementation here. If you have questions, ask here. In the worst case there will be no answer (it happens) :-) Best, MU Ritter, Nicholas - 2013-08-21 21:49: > I am testing v4.0.5 on CentOS v6.4 and have encountered a number of issues, > but the first and most pressing has to do with rules in authentication > sources. > > I have created an LDAP authentication source, tested it with the test button > (which I assume only tests the Bind DN, and not a user in the LDAP > directory).
