Hi Jeremy,
If one works so should the other. 
The —nt-response is generated by the 802.1x supplicant based on the username, 
hashed password and challenge.
Given the same challenge and username it should be enough to authenticate. 

Can you restart radiusd again and post the debugging output (using -X) as well 
as the contents of your raddb/modules/mschap please?
