Steve,

That’s much better :)

Can you check if you have the following file on the filesystem:
/usr/local/pf/html/pfappserver/lib/pfappserver/Controller/Config/Fingerprints.pm

If yes, please delete it and restart PacketFence services

Cheers!

Hi Derek

I have ran the upgrade again and had the same type of problem.

I have attached a log file of my terminal during the upgrade.

The interesting lines are as follows:

Line 2492 Start of errors.

Line 2861 is me running "service packetfence-config
restart"

Line 2913 is me running "service packetfence
restart"

Can you take a look at the log file and see if you can see what I'm doing wrong.

Kind regards,

I'll give that a try and post the results later today.

Steve,

Can you do ‘service packetfence-config restart’ and check how it behaves.

Hi Derek

Thanks for your help

I'll await your response as it looks like the best idea would be to upgrade the
current server.

Steve,

The backups are the ones you suggested. The backup of the /usr/local/pf
directory, along with a dump of the DB.
It wouldn’t work if you copy over the whole codebase of 4.7 over the newest
5.0.2… the files that can be copied over are the configuration files, after
having modified them accordingly to the UPGRADE guide if needed… Easiest would
be to replicate config in a fresh install…

Regarding the DB, you can simply import back the exported schema and then apply
the schema updates.

The previous upgrade I have tried does not seem to work correctly. Below is the
output from when I try to restart the PacketFence service after the upgrade. (i
followed all the items in the upgrade document)
I’ll have a look at what can cause that issue and will advise.

Cheers!

Any more details ?

If I was to take a backup and DB dump from 4.7.0 and install 5.0.2 on a new

I'm not sure of which backup files you are talking about.

Cheers!

Is it possible to do it this way?
If you do not have any custom code (modified PacketFence codebase outside of
extension points and outside of configuration parameters), that shouldn’t be
too hard to do. Make sure to make a backup of the /usr/local/pf directory,
along with a dump of the DB.

Once done, upgrade the codebase and go through the UPGRADE guide to make sure
you pay attention to each configuration parameters that may have changed. Do
not forget about the DB schema upgrade (documented in the upgrade guide)

Cheers!
