Hey, again, now from the registered mail address.

I took a look a bit further by using this command:

“apache2 -e debug -X -D debian -f /usr/local/pf/var/conf/httpd.conf.d/httpd.admin”

Turns out that the error preventing the admin instance from starting is a segmentation fault.

Using apache core dumps I came to the conclusion that the cause may be the “pfappserver” module may responsible for that.

Thanks for your time,

Mark L.

Hi all,,

I just did a fresh install of Debian 8.5 and tried to install PacketFence on it according to this manual:

https://packetfence.org/doc/PacketFence_Administration_Guide.html

Everything works fine until I’m told to visit the configurator.

Long story short, the httpd.admin service won’t start.

I’ve already searched online and took a look at the logs in “/usr/local/pf/logs/*” but I’ve found nothing that could help me.

Meaning: Only “httpd.admin.catalyst”, “pfconfig.log” and “packetfence.log” even had any error in them.

The most meaningful are those regarding failing connection attempts to the MySQL database… which of course isn’t yet configured.

For those who want to take a look themselfes, you can get the logs here: http://m-lessmann.de/usr.zip

Aditionally:

No, the terminal itself showed no error.

Running this got me “file not found”: “/usr/sbin/httpd -f /usr/local/pf/conf/httpd.conf.d/httpd.admin -Ddebian”
(No wonder as httpd.admin really does not exist)

And the error in “httpd.admin.catalyst” just sent me here: https://packetfence.org/bugs/view.php?id=1793(Bug already marked as resolved)

(Tried the solution too with no effect as “libdata-alias-perl” isn’t installed)

I hope someone can help me, as it’s frustrating getting the ZEN live USB to work but not an installed system on a hard drive…

If you need further information, tell me and I’ll provide it.

Regards,

Mark
