= Wie man sich meldet =
Wenn ihr Lust habt, Packman weiterzuführen – ob als Einzelperson, als
Team oder auch nur für Teilbereiche –, meldet euch auf der
Mailing-Liste ([email protected]) oder direkt per private Mail an
uns. Auch Teillösungen sind willkommen. Und wenn ihr Ideen zu OBS oder
anderen Modellen habt: Her damit, lasst uns diskutieren. Jetzt ist der
Moment.
Nachdem sich schon einige potenzielle Interessenten gemeldet haben,
möchte ich meine persönliche Einschätzung dazu kundtun:
Ich persönlich hätte gewisse bedenken, ein Community Projekt wie
Packman, das ich durchaus zu "kritischer Infrastruktur" zähle, an jemand
zu übergeben, der bisher dem Projekt komplett unbekannt ist. "I have
nothing better to do right now" ist evtl. nicht die mich persönlihc
ansprechende Begründung warum man das weiterführen wollen würde.
Insofern wäre meine persönliche Präferenz sehr stark Christian
"Computersalat".
Das bedeutet nicht daß die anderen sich nicht einbrigen dürfen oder
können. Ich vermute, auch Christian wird nicht böse sein, wenn sich
jemand mit Hosting, storage oder anderen Beiträgen beteiligen will.
Das ist meine persönliche Meinung dazu, "just my 2 cents".

= Successors wanted =
We are looking for a person or a team prepared to continue Packman –
hosting, build infrastructure, repository management, and community
coordination. Splitting these tasks among several people is absolutely
conceivable.
Whomever will be the successor, my offer is that I would support in the
administration of OBS (the part that can usually not be done from the
web frontend), in case this is deemed useful and appreciated. We can
talk about my qualification at the appropriate time ;-)
Currently, there are still build workers from other helpers – many
thanks to Stefan Seyfried, among others! You would then need to
coordinate the use of these workers.
I would certainly continue to host an provide my ARM64 workers.
= How to get in touch =
If you are interested in continuing Packman – whether as an individual,
a team, or even just for specific areas – please get in touch via the
mailing list ([email protected]) or directly via private email to
us. Partial solutions are also welcome. And if you have ideas regarding
OBS or other models: send them our way, let’s discuss. Now is the
moment.
Now that several potential interested parties have come forward, I would
like to share my personal assessment:
Personally, I would have certain reservations about handing over a
community project like Packman, which I certainly consider "critical
infrastructure", to someone who is completely unknown to the project so
far. "I have nothing better to do right now" is perhaps not the most
compelling reason for wanting to take it on.
In this regard, my personal preference is strongly for Christian
"Computersalat."
That does not mean others cannot or should not get involved. My guess is
that Christian wouldn't mind at all if someone wanted to contribute via
hosting, storage, or other means.
This is just my personal opinion, "just my 2 cents".
