Ladies and Gentleman I'm happy to report that Task 2.0 is now complete and working (bugs and nigglies notwithstanding).
To demonstrate the simplicity of this new API I've migrated the Function List panel from running inline to running from a task. It took less than an hour (while watching TV) and was quite straight forwards. You can see the use case for the new API spread between Padre::Wx::FunctionList and Padre::Task2::FunctionList. The code is still living on my Padre-TaskRewrite branch but we're now getting closer to the point where I can land it on trunk. However, I still need to port every existing task to the new API. And when it does come time to land this the initial drop will not support services (which means we temporarily kill Swarm etc). So firstly, I invite you to come play with the new task code. And secondly, is everyone ok with a couple of unstable releases and a period of broken Swarm/etc?
