Only thing that comes obviously to mind is that the locking subsystem has accidentally gone into permalock.
In the developer tools plugin, look at the value of the expression (I think) Padre::Current->main->{locker} It any of the locks it tracks are showing as true, some lock object has somehow managed to avoid destruction perhaps...
