Position # 1 : Imam
The Islamic Center of Irving has an opening for the position of Imam. We are
a
growing community, with over 1000 Musallees in Friday, and a brand new
36,000
square foot facility. We have a full-time school (pre-K through 8th grade),
as
well as a weekend Islamic school. We are looking for an Imam whose heart
will
be connected to the center, who will help our community grow numerically and
spiritually. We are a diverse community, and the ideal candidate shall
possess
excellent communication and interpersonal skills to handle different
cultures
and schools of thought smoothly.

The requirements for the position are,
- Education : At least a Bachelor's Degree in Islamic Studies (or
Equivalent)
Masters or Doctorate preferred. Degrees conferred from a religious
institution,
such as Alim Fadhil, Mufti, etc. are also included in this.
- English : Spoken English must be fluent; this job requires a lot of public
speaking. Writing Ability in English is also desired, but not an absolute
requirement. We may be able to relax this requirement for an outstanding
applicant.
- Arabic : It is expected that the candidate understands Arabic. He should
have
an excellent understanding of the Quran. Spoken Arabic is a plus, but not a
requirement.
- Ability to deal with children, youth, and adults : We are a diverse
community, with all age groups well represented. The ideal candidate must be
able to communicate with them at their level, and get his message across.
- Hifz of Quran : is very important but not an absolute requirement.
- Experience : At least 5 years of prior experience as an imam, preferably
in
the West.
- Dawaa : Passionate about making Dawaa to Muslims and non-Muslims. Dawaa is
central to our center's strategic goals. It is very important that the imam
is
actively involved in making Dawaa to Muslims and non-Muslims.
