I wrote an installable device driver for the Delorme EarthMate GPS last
month for Windows CE. As Randy discussed, most of this is covered where
he mentioned at sci.geo.satellite-nav. In fact, Randy gave me a few
pointers last month ;-) As Randy discussed, the Earthmate (and
Tripmate) are a little trickier to write to because Delorme believes
that proprietary is good. Anyway, I have source code for a state
machine which will parse the data stream and store data away in some
variables. It's Windows CE code, but the Win32 file calls are easily
replaceable with Palm OS code. I'd be more than happy to find it and
give it to whomever is interested. It doesn't parse NMEA-0183, rather,
it parses the Rockwell Binary protocol. But it is easily modifiable to
handle NMEA-0183.
Also, if you're interested in a NMEA-0183 example, check out Palm
Programming, Developer's Guide by Rhodes.
Drop me a line if you're interested.
