Of course! We need some way to detect when the card has gotten scrambled
due to low batteries or whatever.
Currently, I think the card header is checked, and if it's found to be bad
the hard reset is triggered. The card header is in protected memory, so
you should not be able to trash it accidently, or even deliberately if you
stick to the supported APIs.
