Ah, yes.  The 'unused' underline attribute bits are now getting used.
Thanks for the clarification.

In general, you should expect more of this as the OS matures.  We're trying
to be better about explicitly declaring extra fields as 'reserved', as
opposed to 'pad' or 'unused' or simply letting the compiler do the
alignment.

Build systems and programs should treat extra bits in data structures
gingerly, and keep them zero unless otherwise told.
