Well, this is the first I've personally heard about this problem.  But
then, it's not in my area of expertise.  Thanks for the very clear problem
report, by the way.

I'm kind of surprised that a plain reset (not erasing/hard) doesn't make a
difference.  Has anyone tried that as a first step and found it not to work?

Anyway, it seems as though getting a reproduceable case or a unit that
exhibits the problem is going to be key to figuring out what's going on
here.  Any help in doing that would surely be appreciated.
