Note: if you have "NetLib redirection" turned on, Poser patches out almost
all of NetLib. Thus, the NetLib in the Palm OS ROM is never run, and never
tries to allocate its 32K of dynamic heap. In this respect, running your
application under Poser is not the same as running it on an actual device.

Subject: Dynamic heap on OS 2.0

The Palm OS Memory Architecture article #1126 states:
"On systems equipped with the TCP/IP stack, there is an additional 32KB of
dynamic heap to accomodate the TCP/IP stack. Applications cannot count on
having the TCP stack memory available, even if TCP/IP is not running."
All pretty clear. I have an application that allocates 25KB at startup and
runs fine on OS 3.0. I've tested this app running on a PalmPilot
Professional
with 1MB (with POSE) and it also runs fine. My questions are:
1. Under what circumstances will it NOT run on this device?
2. Will it also run on an upgraded Pilot 5000?
(I'm not contemplating a redesign of the application to reduce its memory
footprint at this time.)
