It sounds like your error may be coming from somewhere else, not from these
two system calls. Are you sure of a few things: 1. that record handles are
being released appropriately, 2. all records are being unlocked
appropriately, 3. you are moving deleted/archived records to the end of the
db. Some routines require deleted/archived records to be moved to the end
of the database, I can't remember if the sort routines require this (I would
bet so).

I have no idea. But make sure you are using the gcc prologue & epilogue in
your sort comparison callback function if you use globals.
