I do not, and will not ever use AvantGo for my personal use.
Having been on the beta team for a bit, and probably joining it again very
soon for the linux version of their server to test for the company I work
for, I can say it's not an application I can recommend for anyone to use
on a personal level. At the enterprise, where money is no object, I can
see where this could be a tool to fit a need, but not for me, and not for
dozens of people I spoke with at PC Expo, Comdex, and other locations. I
have already been using what I deem to be a much more advanced alternative
to AvantGo (and it's completely free, open, and covered under the GPL,
client and server components). AvantGo is *WAY* too much money for an
application ($150.00 for the client, $15,000.00 for the server) which
simply renders HTML, images, and forms.

I am going to try to see if I can start to construct a reader for
the PalmOS using PDF or some other rendering technlogy, with an interim
filter in the middle, to parse out PDF files into. It's worth a shot.

I'll keep you all abreast of what I find out.
