Mike,
    I name them differently for two reasons.
    1) I build both in the same directory and therefor can not build with 
the same name.  When I tried naming them with the same name and having the 
build put them in a directory I still had this problem. (See my email 
explaining why I was having the problem, it turned out to be the Palm 
Database name was different because I was not entering one so Metrowerks 
defaults to the prc file name.)

    2) So I don't get confused and accidentially release the registered 
version to a software archive or sent the unregistered one to a paying 
cusstomer and piss them off ;-)

This may seem like a silly suggestion but if you only want one at a 
time and you want one to replace the other, just give them both the 
same name.  You can name the archives differently if you like.  But
why do you need different names for the app.

It will be obvious to all which is which.
