Newbie problems with Emulator

I've just received Code Warrior v31. for Palm OS and have been looking at
the various samples projects.

I have managed to get the debugger running on my PalmV but not on the POSE.
I've tried both the latest beta 2.1d8 as well as the latest stable release.

The emulator launches but immediately presents an error "UIAppShell (unknown
version) peformed an illegal address error"

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong (I'm using a ROM downloaded directly from my
PalmV.
