Phillip,
MTU means Maximum Tranmission Unit. I'm pretty sure this is as good as it
gets. But MTU doesn't have very much to do with transmission speeds anyway,
it's more of a question of packet fragmentation, probably not a very big
problem in this case. Remember, 1000 bytes per second = 8000 bits per
second, which sounds a lot like your serial port is set to 9600 baud. Have
you checked your serial port speeds on your pc/palmpilot?
