Hi Paul,
I've tested the IDEs VFIDE, PilotMAG, and VCP. The best one, though not optimal,
of these three is PilotMAG. It runs much more stable than VFDIDE.
The things that bother me when using VFDIDE are:
- The screen refresh of the resource constructor is very slow and not optimised. When
you drag
an UI element around, the whole Palm screen is refreshed when you drop it.
Additionally. when
you add an UI element to a dialog, the screen is refreshed twice.
- You have to write batch files for compiling and linking your project. This should
be subject to an
IDE. Othewise, it is not an IDE, but a resource editor.
- Under Win 95, VFDIDE often chrashes
Cheers and Mahlzeit,
Holger

Before I begin I became a member of this list 2 days ago, so if what
I'm about the ask has already been covered then please excuse me for
repeating old threads (I have yet to find the list archive).
I am just starting out in palm development and I am using GNU C, I am
thinking of using the VFDIDE software package. It looks quite cute and
puts a nice GUI on to the C dev system.
Has anyone on this list used such a setup, if so how do you find it
(or is there a 'better' front end to GNU C).
I am using an eval version of VFDIDE, I have found MANY minor bugs,
but as yet no show stoppers.
Comments welcomed (off list if preferred).
Paul Fletcher.
