I used the Emulator 2.1d29 to develop a game played over the network.
It works as long you are aware of some incompatibilities:
The emulator has problems with timeouts, for gods sake select works
correctly
The emulator can't be used as a TCP/IP sockets server. It always produces
an error which doesn't seem to appear an the real pilot.
