I'm sorry that my responses have come across as arrogant to you - that
certainly wasn't the intent, but that doesn't change the fact that they did
convey that impression. If you could possibly let me know what things did
particularly seem arrogant, that'd be helpful to me to keep an eye on in
the future.
Being casual and direct and brief and polite and firm and authoritative and
encouraging all at the same time is hard, and not being schooled as an
author I'm sure I often fail to convey the precise nuances that I mean. My
apologies, and thanks for the other encouraging responses. Glad to be
helpful.
(The PalmSource note could well have been a bit more cryptic than most, and
thus liable for misinterpretation, mostly because I can't say more than
what has already been said.)
As for who I am - I'm just one of the guys in the developer support group
who happens to have a hand in most of the stuff that affects the handheld
device, not including conduits and communications. I also am one of the
ones most involved with these sorts of mailing lists and the web site,
though I've transitioned much of the day-to-day operational duties to other
people. I'm also one of the more senior devsupp folks and as such tend to
be one of the more common representatives of the developer base to the
higher levels of Palm and the engineering groups.
And in non-work terms I'm a husband, father of two kids, occasional
software author, and enjoy cooking, raquetball, skiing, etc.
www.thefedors.com has some stuff on my non-work activities if you're
curious.
Hope this helps, and sorry again for the negative impression conveyed.
