Yes, there *is* a function callable from a real palm application. That's the
function you're looking for right now. But, as I said in my first reply,
"...you can't safely call that function on pre-3.0 ROMs (you can always call it
under the Emuator, but will crash on a pre-3.0 ROM on a real device), so I added
the feature that could always be queried."

HostControl.h is also in the 3.1 SDK. I tried replying with this information
before, but the group e-mailer perversely kept kicking back my reply saying that
