And GM won't support it so they went to the show alone.  Car makers come from
the same mindset of the the IBM mainframes of the 1960's.  Anything not under
their direct or contractual control is considered a threat to the stability of
their revenue model.  It's going to be a long time before you see a in-car
network with an IrDA, Ethernet or DB-9 connector in it right from the factory.
