I would argue that the average user doesn't know what flash memory 
is, or what OS version they have, or that they won't be able to 
upgrade a IIIe (etc.)...

This is the (small) downside to having a device and OS that are so 
simple to use - the bulk of your customers will be baffled by these 
sort of technical issues.
