Getting Started

I program lots in FoxPro, some in Visual Basic.

I have Code Warrior Lite.
What is the best way to get started?
Do I need to buy a manual?
I am trying to go through the tutorial CW.
I would like to be able to use telnet,
got 3 different copies but can't figure out how
to get connect to my network with ppp. 
I can connect with slip on the cradle...
I have my second Palm, use it plenty and really like it.
Any suggestions?
