I don't have a complete set of instuctions (nor could I write one
easily, as I did this all in '98), but I do have a tip that I didn't
see anywhere else. It'll save your gcc.
I created a new user, pilot, for all palm development, and made a
directory ~pilot/usr. Then when building the tools (as user pilot) I
configured them with './configure --prefix=~/usr' and NEVER become
root to install them. This wouldn't work for a multi-user machine
unless only one user would be doing palm development, and I don't
think it'd be necessary if I had more Linux sysadmin experience, but
it did allow me to spend my time up front learning the palm apis
instead of figuring out more about Linux (which I've since been doing
at a more reasonable pace.)
