The right versions do make life easier :-). Hence I would recommend
that you go to this page, which contains patches against GCC-2.95.2:

I should think that 2.95.2 will support cross-compiling from
ppc-linux, even without the version of binutils mentioned at
http://egcs.cygnus.com/install/specific.html#powerpc-*-linux-gnu*
It sounds like you are having no problems with the build process, so
armed with these newer releases and patches you should be fine.
At my talk at PalmSource I said that there would be a release of the
entire tool chain, with binaries for some popular platforms, right
away. Alas, Right Away is even now still only Very Very Soon.
At the moment I'm polishing up the post-linker and adding GCC versions
of the SDK libraries to the Palm OS SDK. So there's very little left
to do for a reasonably coherent release.
